I am a multidisciplinary artist based in Österlen, Sweden.

My main medium is abstract painting in oil or acrylic. Sometimes I also make textile works or installations.

I grew up in Finland by the coast and in the archipelago of Ostrobotnia. Being an only child I spent as many hours drawing and painting in my room as playing alone in nature. In my practice I am driven by a longing for that timeless state of presence and wonder in solitary contemplation and play.

Professionally I have worked as a photographer and retoucher for over 20 years. For many years though, I felt that something was missing in what the camera could offer. I had a desire to use my hands, to feel real color and make brush strokes. So in 2022 I began to paint.

My process is mostly - but not completely - intuitive. Color combinations, textures and shapes in nature that I am drawn to are abstracted and digested, transforming throughout the process as they require me to listen and pay close attention at every moment. This is my act of contemplation and play, and hopefully the result gives the viewer a space to dwell and wonder, as well.
