Anki Blomqvist is a multidisciplinary artist based in Österlen, Sweden.

Her work revolves around questions of consciousness and embodiment. Inner worlds of emotions, memories and dreams take physical form in paintings and sometimes textile pieces and installations.

The often colorful, organic, abstract shapes and layers merely suggest figuration, leaving space for the viewer to dwell.

With an almost twenty years long background in the photographic field, both with commercial and art photography, she began in 2021 to transition her artistic practice from photography to painting, having for a long time nurtured this dream of a more tactile way of creating. Her practice has shifted from less control to more intuition, while still balancing the two polarities at the same time.

She believes that todays artificial lifestyle disconnects humanity from our origin, nature, each other, our inner selves, purpose and the holy. Where efficiency floods every system, the slow process of creating and connecting with art represents a great longing of purpose for us as humans.
